Julie Choe

Julie Choe, 16 years old, serves as concertmaster in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Lawrence Loh and currently studies with Hong-Guang Jia, the assistant concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As one of the youngest members, Choe became concertmaster of the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra at age 13. She has won 1st place at the Pittsburgh Philharmonic's Young Artist Competition and was featured as a soloist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic. Additional solos were played with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra as a winner of its Young Artists Concerto Competition. Choe was named a gold prize winner of the National Young Musicians Showcase Competition, and the 1st place winner of the International American Protégé Concerto Competition where she performed her solos at Carnegie Music Hall in New York City. In the past year, she also went on a European Concert tour with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony to the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovakia. As a chamber musician, she has performed with the Montgomery Fellowship Quartet since 2013 as a first violinist. Choe is currently a junior at North Allegheny Senior High School and enjoys playing tennis and reading in addition to her experiences in music.
