Jack Heinz Next Gen

Jack Heinz Next Gen is an entry point for greater involvement with the Pittsburgh Symphony. Members learn about the Symphony and promote awareness of and involvement with the PSO within their communities. It is a pipeline affiliate for the Jack Heinz Advisory Board—a standing committee of the Symphony Board of Directors that cultivates future leadership for the Symphony and for the Board of Directors.

Its name honors the memory of H.J. “Jack” Heinz II (1908-1987), who was president of the H.J. Heinz Company, chairman of the Howard Heinz Endowment, and visionary leader of the civic push to create Pittsburgh’s cultural district. This ambitious undertaking begin with the rebirth of the Loew’s Penn Theater as Heinz Hall, the new home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, in 1971.

Activities

• Meetings: Next Gen meets multiple times a year to expose members to basic aspects of the Symphony’s operations.
• Social Events: Next Gen holds joint social events with the Advisory Board to foster relationships between members and enjoy the Symphony, our musicians, and the music itself.
• Project Opportunities: Members may provide assistance with Symphony special projects or initiatives.
• Membership Recruiting: Members are encouraged to identify and recruit prospective members in conjunction with the Membership Chair and staff liaison.

Membership Expectations, Terms, & Benefits

Members commit to the following expectations:

• Contribute at least $300 annually, including a personal Annual Fund gift that is significant in light of the member’s personal financial capability. All types of philanthropic contributions are counted, including fundraising events. (Current university/college students are encouraged to join Next Gen at the $150 level!)
• Attend multiple performances per season
• Attend at least 1 Next Gen meeting per year
• Serve 1 year renewable terms

Membership benefits include:

• The Jack Heinz Next Gen roster will be listed in most Pittsburgh Symphony concert program books
• Up to a 20% discount on concert tickets (some restrictions apply)
• Annual Fund benefits at the $300 level

To join Jack Heinz Next Gen, please submit a Next Gen enrollment form and a Next Gen representative will reach out to you. Members are required to make an Annual Fund commitment upon joining.
