Kyle Mustain

Kyle Mustain joined the Pittsburgh Symphony as principal English horn in 2019. From 2010-2019 he held the same position with the Oregon Symphony.

Prior to his appointment in Oregon, Kyle Mustain spent two years living in Brazil, where he served as Solo English Horn with the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais. He held the same position with the Santa Fe Opera from 2004 to 2013. He has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Atlanta Symphony and held one-year appointments as Assistant Principal Oboe and English Horn with both the Houston Symphony and the Indianapolis Symphony. Mustain has performed at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, the Sun Valley Music Festival and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. 

Kyle Mustain received a Master of Music from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music. He is also a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy and summer festival.

Mustain has been a member of the band Pink Martini since 2014. When he is not cooking or painting, he might be found in the recording studio producing the next Pink Martini album, or onstage singing and playing English Horn with the globe-trotting band.  

Kyle Mustain lives in Lawrenceville with his wife Deanna and their dog Harper.
