Christoph König

Maestro Christoph König is current Principal Conductor & Music Director of the Solistes Européens Luxembourg and Principal Guest Conductor of the Real Filharmonia de Galicia. He has previously served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música from 2009 until 2014.

Celebrated for his clarity, precision, and elegant approach, König is in high demand as a guest conductor in North America and abroad. Since his debut in the US in 2010 he has conducted the Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony, Oregon Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Houston Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Grant Park, Vancouver Symphony, and Toronto Symphony. Engagements abroad include the Staatskapelle Dresden, Orchestre de Paris, Danish National Symphony, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Dresden Philharmonic, Radio Orchestra (RTVE) in Madrid, Deutsche Radio Phiharmonie Saarbrücken, Malaysia Philharmonic, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, whom he led on a highly successful tour of China (2008).

Maestro König will debut in the current season with Bremer Philharmoniker, Seattle Symphony, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Return engagements include the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Maestro König’s opera experience includes: Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Zauberflöte, and Il Turco in Italia at Zurich Opera; Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Teatro Real in Madrid; Don Giovanni at the Staatsoper in Stuttgart; and Die Zauberflöte and Rigoletto at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
