Jason Yoder was appointed Principal Percussion of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 2026. Coming to the PSO from Seoul, South Korea, Jason was serving as Principal Percussion and Assistant Timpani of the KBS Symphony Orchestra since 2023. Having a varied career in both percussion and timpani, Jason previously held the positions of acting 3rd percussion of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Section Percussion of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and Percussion in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. As for Timpani, he served as acting Principal Timpani with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Principal Timpani of the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Timpani of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. 

As a guest timpanist or percussionist, Jason has performed with orchestras such as The Philadelphia Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern. He was awarded the Charles Owen Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School, and attended other festivals such as the National Repertory Orchestra and Brevard Music Center.

Jason has performed as a soloist with the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Repertory Orchestra. He also performed a duet with Yo-yo Ma at the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh, as well as with Alisa Weilerstein for Classical Music Appreciation Day at the White House for the Obama Administration. A native of Squirrel Hill, Jason attended Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12. He then received his degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, Temple University, and DePaul University. When Jason is not playing percussion, he enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, and rock climbing.
