PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES RESCHEDULED DATES FOR "AN EVENING WITH HONECK & MUTTER & WILLIAMS" AND CONCERT WITH BEN FOLDS

PITTSBURGH, PA—The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce new dates for two concerts it had to postpone from the 2019-2020 season, both of which will be performed in 2021. “An Evening with Honeck & Mutter & Williams” will take place on June 9, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., and Ben Folds will appear with the orchestra at Heinz Hall on October 15, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

In May, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra had to postponed both concerts, originally scheduled to occur in the 2019-2020 season, in response to government restrictions on public gatherings and public health guidance to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

“An Evening with Honeck & Mutter & Williams” features violin virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Pittsburgh Symphony performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto under the baton of Music Director Manfred Honeck. Then, the special one-night-only event continues with legendary composer and conductor John Williams at the podium, leading the orchestra and Anne-Sophie Mutter in selected works from Across the Stars, the highly-acclaimed album collaboration by Williams and Mutter features an array of Williams' most beloved movie themes in stunning adaptations written especially for Mutter.

For more than a decade, Ben Folds has performed with some of the world’s greatest orchestras, including four appearances with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra beginning with a sold-out concert in 2010. He has created a large body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple albums and numerous collaborative records. Folds also is a critically acclaimed author.
